A Stunning Coombe Lodge wedding
Saturday’s marriage of Tia & Lee was a stunning Coombe Lodge Wedding and one the Wilde Bunch Team had been looking forward to with great excitement. With Tia’s meticulous planning & Lee’s Jamaican family ties, this was one wedding that you just knew, was going to end in the ‘Party’ of parties at Coombe Lodge…
They didn’t disappoint with a full Gospel choir at St Mary Redcliffe Church and an excellent live band fusing Funk, Soul and Reggae to welcome the guests back at Coombe Lodge. With a DJ taking over later in the evening they partied into the early hours…A proper celebration of Tia & Lee’s marriage.
And so…Onto the floral designs and though this was a big budget wedding there are great examples through-out the day, for all Brides, on how to get the best use of every part of the design. So future Brides take note…
The Church Flowers
St Mary Redcliffe is a huge church, possibly the biggest in Bristol. It’s certainly no place for small floral designs as they would ‘disappear’ in its cavernous interior. So we decided on four very large ‘Plinth & Urn’ designs. Two at the start of the aisle and two by the ceremony at the front. These are dramatic ‘Statement’ designs that you can’t help but notice, even in a church of this size. In true Wilde Bunch ‘style’ the designs made a later appearance at Coombe Lodge.
For the aisle flowers we used ‘classic’ designs but added long trails of Organza fabric to really ‘draw the eye’ and frame the aisle. Watch out for the aisle bunches later as they formed a mantelpiece design and a stunning Table Plan design back at Coombe Lodge.
The Coombe Lodge Wedding Flowers
Tia had a very clear view of what she wanted in terms of flower designs at Coombe Lodge. She wanted designs that were ‘flower heavy’ with minimal foliage. Our recent designs have a higher foliage content but we were more than happy to go ‘Big’ on the flowers for Tia.
The table centres were based on Gold Candelabra (some complete with candle holders + candles and some ‘deconstructed’ to allow for bigger floral designs)
On her top table Tia requested a large ‘long & low’ design deep enough to cover the front half of the table and give the effect of a carpet of flowers. Two of the church plinths stood either end of the top table. The other two stood either side of the entrance to the banqueting hall.
We also created designs for the mantelpiece, table-plan and scattered the remaining designs on the window ledges & tables around Coombe Lodge.
For this wedding we split the Wilde Bunch Team with half at the Church to arrange the designs and deliver the 100+ buttonholes for guests and the Bridal party. They then moved all of the Church designs back to Coombe Lodge before the guests & couple arrived. The Senior florists; Claire and Lyndi worked all day at Coombe Lodge as the ‘deconstructed’ candelabra had to be finished off on-site along with the Wedding ‘Styling’ and garland for the Table Plan area. It made a nice change from our usual ‘Wilde & Natural’ designs (we did take the liberty of ‘Going Wilde’ on the Table plan design) and showed The Wilde Bunch Team really can turn their ‘Design’ talents to every style of wedding. All in all we were on-site at the Church & Coombe Lodge from 10.00am to 4.00pm…something not many florists are happy to do, but it’s all part of our service for weddings like this…Another great Coombe Lodge Wedding…
It really was a stunning wedding to work on and a great Celebration for a wonderful couple. Tia worked so hard with us all year to get everything organised…
